NEW FALKEN ZIEX ZE320 OFFERS ‘VERY STRONG PERFORMANCE’ WITH IMPROVED ENVIRONMENTAL CREDENTIALS

2024-06-26

Falken, a tyre brand of the Japanese company Sumitomo Rubber Industries, exclusively represented in Portugal by AB Tyres, recently introduced its new model, the ZIEX ZE320. Following the enormous success of its predecessor, the ZE310, the company has been intensely dedicated to developing this new model, which promises to further elevate the performance and sustainability standards that characterize the Falken brand.

The new ZIEX 320 will be available in 60 different sizes, ranging from 15 to 18 inches, with a speed rating between H and W, which translates to a maximum speed rating of up to 270 km/h. Produced in Turkey, the new Falken tire uses a more eco-friendly compound derived from rice husks. This agricultural byproduct, of which over 100 million tons are generated every year, allows the extraction of silica, an essential component in the tire manufacturing process.

The extraction process of this component, from the ashes generated by burning this organic material, emits fewer greenhouse gases than the extraction of the same material from sand, which has been used until now. Furthermore, the heat generated during the process can be converted into electrical energy and used in other stages of the process.

In summary, it can be concluded that the production of silica derived from rice husks generates less CO2 compared to conventional methods of producing filler materials, thus aligning with the sustainability commitment assumed by Falken and Sumitomo Rubber Industries through the 'Driving Our Future Challenge 2050' initiative.

In this initial phase, 12 sizes will be available, with the launch of the remaining 48 sizes planned for the first quarter of 2025.
